Snaps Kayaking at Mukilteo Beach

It was such a gorgeous Pacific Northwest day yesterday that Robert and I decided to go Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP). We arrived at the rental place on Lake Washington to be confronted by hordes of people! The day was simply beautiful-the skies were brilliant blue with white clouds woven into the heavens. It reminds me of the Leonardo DaVinci quote, “Once you have tasted the sky, you will forever look up.” I feel that way about the PacNW (Pacific Northwest) skies. There is no other place quite like it.

There was a multi-family picnic happening at Juanita Beach and the warm weather drew people to cool off in the PacNW waters. After all, most of us do not have air conditioning here! Rather than trying to find parking, we decided to head to Mukilteo Beach and put the kayak in instead. The parking lot there is larger, it’s ocean, and there’s a boat ramp with docks. A more straightforward prospect than trying to find parking at Juanita Beach. We planned to put in at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park and paddle for about an hour. A nice short trip!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have my regular camera because we were planning on SUP. The iPhone stood in pretty well! However, the waters were a bit choppy due to the amount of motorized watercraft. Balancing my paddle across my lap while working the iPhone with two hands, trying to focus on something of interest, and the sun’s brilliance created quite a challenge, especially with my sunglasses on! For the brief video below, I hooked my paddle to the kayak for the brief video below. 🙂

The skies were brilliant! The beaches weren’t as full as Juanita Beach because there simply is a lot more room for people to spread out.

We saw the train chugging down the tracks and a bald eagle overseeing the journey.

A harbor seal was sunning on the rocks! The seal didn’t care about us at all, but we did respect his space, staying a reasonable distance away and using zoom on the camera!

On our return, we saw the beach, the ferry coming and going, and the Mukilteo Lighthouse.

Thanks for reading to the end! If you want to see all the snaps, thethey’reer at Flickr, linked below.

Peace,

Robert & Terri
